New friends, new shows and more of some of your favourites

We’ve already told you that Zan Rowe is coming to Double J. And earlier today we shared the news that Myf Warhurst is heading elsewhere.

Now, it’s time to fill you in on exactly who you will be spending your days and nights with on Double J in 2018.

Here’s an idea of how 2018 will sound on Double J.

Liquid Lunch with Tim Rogers, Friday at 2pm

Australia’s most elegant shabby raconteur Tim Rogers brings his curiosity about art, music and ideas together in a weekly show about life and music. Liquid Lunch is your chance to get inside the mind of one of Australia’s favourite musicians.

Given Rogers’ adept talent as a writer and an actor, and his broad, in depth knowledge of great music, it’ll be the perfect way to unwind from an uptight week; an hour of loose conversation and unbeatable music.

Sky High with Hau Latukefu, Friday at 5pm

Hau Latukefu takes over Sky High from Lance Ferguson in 2018, bringing his incredible programming skills, energy and music knowledge to your Friday nights.

Expect music that makes you move – from hip hop, to soul, funk to rare groove and everything in between.

The J Files with Gemma Pike, Thursday at 8pm

Gemma Pike has spent the past seven years on triple j, building up her reputation as a trusted, respected music specialist and fan. There’s not much Gemma doesn’t know about music and she brings that depth of knowledge to The J Files, our music history program and podcast in 2018.

You’ll get to hear more of your Double J favourites in 2018 as well, as a couple of presenters move into new and exciting timeslots.

Arvos with Tim Shiel, Monday – Thursday at 3pm

Tim Shiel brings a sense of curiosity, wonder and fun to the radio every time he’s on. Always up for a challenge, he’s one of the most loved music minds in the business – endlessly creative and always creating radio you don’t want to miss a minute of. Tim will also still host his electronic music program Something More on triple j, Sunday nights at 11.

Weekends with Caz Tran, Saturday – Sunday at 9am

Caz Tran is your weekend companion on Double J, bringing you her music smarts and the kind of context and stories surrounding your favourite music that she is so brilliant at. These shows will include encore broadcasts of her incredibly popular Classic Album segment, where Caz re-looks at a seminal album, as well as Live at the Wireless on Double J, featuring the best live music from now and over 40 years of live music archives.

Not everything’s changing, Richard Kingsmill continues to make Saturday nights (and Friday afternoons) sound so good on The Funhouse.

Karen Leng continues to bring all the best in cutting edge new music to you from 2pm Monday to Thursday.

Henry Wagons re-signs the lease on the Tower of Song and sends you a standing invitation for two hours of brilliant songwriting and engaging chats.

The endless effort to uncover what’s happening in this big, wide world of music continues as Stu Buchanan brings Fat Planet back to Wednesday nights.

And every Sunday afternoon, you’ll spend time with our very special Artist In Residence, as they play you through the music that has inspired and excited them throughout their lives. We can’t let the cat out of the bag yet, but we have some pretty damn exciting guests already lined up to take over in 2018.
