Phil Jamieson’s triple j Unearthed favourites

Primary tabs

The first ever Unearthed artist picks his current favourites from the site.

In each of his excellent Artist In Residence shows throughout November, Grinspoon frontman Phil Jamieson rifled through the thousands of incredible tracks currently up on triple j Unearthed and picked a couple of gems each week.

Of course, Unearthed has a pretty special place in Jamieson’s heart. Grinspoon were the first band to win Unearthed back in the mid-1990s (along with Ode to a Goldfish), which helped expose them to a national audience very quickly.

Jamieson also showed that love by making a special appearance at the triple j ten-year anniversary party, where he sang one of his biggest hits with Melbourne party-starters Northeast Party House.

With so much music to choose from, Jamieson admitted he had trouble narrowing it down to a handful of acts. But he’s done a damn good job.

Here are his selections:

Chook Race – ‘At Your Door’

Stale Cakes – ‘Grub’

Royal Chant – ‘Dick Move’

Chantelle Defina – ‘Irreversible’

Jurassic Nark – ‘Ain’t Lookin Pretty’

Glitoris – ‘Paradise’

Lazertits – ‘Boss Bitch’

Denpasar – ‘B Noticed’
