Gerling's Darren Cross is Double J Artist In Residence in August
Darren Cross has been making music for a long time. As frontman of Sydney indie kings Gerling, he penned some of the greatest Australian songs of the 90s.
These days, as a solo artist and one half of Jep and Dep, he’s toned things down a touch, but making music of equal quality. The noir-country direction he’s gone in is dark, soaring and haunting and shows a whole new side to this great songwriter and performer.
As Artist In Residence, Cross has decided to focus on one of the greatest loves of his life: live music. Across his four shows, he’ll take us on a journey from the festival stages of the Big Day Out to the small, sticky carpet music venues and sweaty club dancefloors.
Episode one promises to be a cracker, as he looks back at the Big Day Out and reflects on some of his fondest memories of the event both as a punter and a performer.
Relive some monumental live music memories and rediscover some new favourites when Darren Cross joins us as Artist In Residence this month.
Hear him each Sunday from 3pm, repeated Wednesday nights at 10pm and any time online.
