Hear A Perfect Circle’s first new song in years, ‘The Doomed’

‘A new release is long overdue,” Maynard James Keenan says.

Until today, A Perfect Circle had released just one single in the past 14 years. That figure now doubles as the alt-metal supergroup release ‘The Doomed’ on the eve of a forthcoming American tour.

Hear it below:

The band is led by founding member Maynard James Keenan – also of Tool and Puscifer – and these days also features fellow founder Billy Howerdel (Ashes Divide), James Iha (ex-Smashing Pumpkins), Jeff Friedl (Puscifer) and Matt McJunkins (Eagles of Death Metal).

“Fourteen years have passed since we released eMOTIVe,” Keenan said in a statement issued with the single. “A new release is long overdue.

“In light of this current difficult and polarised social, spiritual and political climate, we artist types need to open our big mouths and share the light a little louder.”

The band are in the studio at the moment working on their fourth album with producer Dave Sardy (Jet, Wolfmother, LCD Soundsystem). Whether or not it comes before the long-mooted new Tool album remains to be seen.
