Jet’s Nic Cester to play intimate solo shows in April
In case you missed it, Nic Cester (lead singer of recently reignited Aussie rockers Jet) is making a solo record at the moment and it’s gonna be out some time later this year.
We’ve already revealed that he’s debuting the material at Bluesfest over Easter, but now we can also confirm a couple of very intimate solo shows (well, solo shows with band) that will give you all an early taste of what he’s been putting together over the past couple of years.
Here are five fun facts to get you up to speed on Cester’s current work.
- Cester has been living in Milan, Berlin and Como over the past few years
- His band is all Italian
- He’ll be playing with two drummers (!) and horns (!!)
- The record was produced by Jim Abbiss, who has made monstrous records with Adele, Placebo, QOTSA, Arctic Monkeys and more
- His solo work is apparently a mix of mixture of soul, blues and lost Italian soundtrack music.
Here are the dates for his first solo club shows:
Thursday 20 April – The Toff In Town, Melbourne
Friday 21 April – The Basement, Sydney
Tickets are on sale from Wednesday (or Monday if you can get in on the pre-sale) and we reckon they’ll sell out pretty bloody quickly. Get right amongst it.
