Kurt Vile announces Australian tour and new album
His new album is called Bottle It In and it’s coming out 12 October, six months before Kurt himself does to our shores to play Byron Bay’s Bluesfest. In addition to that festival slot, today Vile has announced a run of 2019 Australian shows.
Joined by his trusty band The Violators, the Philly guitar wizard will cast his spell on crowds in Sydney, Wollongong, Canberra, Melbourne, Adelaide, and Perth. Special guests will be Melbourne's beautifully dark RVG. Find those dates below.
Today’s tour and album announce comes packed with some new music from Bottle It In. We’ve already heard the lead single ‘Loading Zones’, which we hailed as another mellow rock masterpiece, and now comes ‘Bassackwards’ – an epic 9-minute sonic vacation of backmasked guitars and wry lyricism.
Recorded across studios all over America over two years in-between long tours and family road trips, Bottle It In also features some of Kurt’s famous friends. Sonic Youth icon Kim Gordon plays acoustic guitar on a track called ‘Mutinies’, among contributions from Cass McCombs, Warpaint drummer Stella Mozgawa, Mary Lattimore, Jess Wolfe, and Holly Laessig from Lucius.
