Oh, and Daryl Braithwaite’s playing too…

For 25 years, the Falls Festival has been throwing some of the biggest New Year’s Eve parties in the country. First, it was just in Lorne, then Marion Bay was added, and now there’s four options with Byron Bay and Fremantle coming on board in recent years.

One thing hasn’t changed, the line ups are always pretty damn massive.

This year’s is no exception, with a huge list of some of the biggest acts around locked in to play the festival in 2017. The biggest artist in the country, Flume, plays Falls exclusively this summer. The excellent Run The Jewels return for the first time since their brilliant third LP. And acts like The Kooks, Glass Animals, Peking Duk, Dune Rats and others beloved by youngsters

But it’s not just a festival for young’uns.

Oasis lead singer Liam Gallagher is coming to Australia as a solo artist for the very first time. The singalongs he will incite are already making our spine tingle as he works his way through a selection of his best songs both old and new. Could this tip him over to make him the best Gallagher brother?

The brilliant Fleet Foxes return to Australia for the second time in 2017. This time we are far better acquainted with the songs from their long-awaited third album Crack-Up and by the time December rolls around we'll might even have had enough time to fully absorb these dense and beautiful songs.

Angus & Julia Stone will have a new record out real soon and it’s sounding mighty promising. No matter what era of the sibling duo you loved best, you can be sure they’ll put on a spellbinding performance for Falls.

British modern soulsters Jungle have been mighty quiet after their world-beating debut album – and its irresistible lead single ‘Busy Earnin’’ – had us tapping our toes every time we heard it. Which, to be honest, was a lot.

Add to that local talent like Methyl Ethel, Julia Jacklin, Bad//Dreems, Alex Lahey, Camp Cope and more and it makes for a pretty damn exciting New Year’s line up.

Plus, there’s Daryl Braithwaite, who will no doubt be playing his greatest song. (You know it’s true. Do not pretend it’s not.)

Here’s the line up as it stands, but there’s plenty more still to come.

Flume, Fleet Foxes, Run The Jewels, The Kooks, Glass Animals, Peking Duk, Angus & Julia Stone, Foster The People, Liam Gallagher, Vince Staples, Jungle, Dune Rats, The Smith Street Band, D.R.A.M., Daryl Braithwaite, Everything Everything, Allday, The Jungle Giants, Thundamentals, Methyl Ethel, Slumberjack, D.D Dumbo, Anna Lunoe, DZ Deathrays, Confidence Man, Julia Jacklin, Bad//Dreems, Cosmo's Midnight, Winston Surfshirt, Luca Brasi, Alex Lahey, Camp Cope, Flint Eastwood, Ecca Vandal, Dave, Total Giovanni plus a whole heap more still to come.
