Neil Finn and Liam Finn to release their first album together this August
It’s perhaps the worst kept secret in Australian music, given they played a series of shows together over summer, but we’re pleased to confirm that Neil Finn and Liam Finn will release their first album together, Lightsleeper, this August.
The record is said to bring together Liam's lo-fi atmospherics meet Neil's iconic pop sensibility, and what we’ve heard so far sounds like a pretty magical middle ground.
Gemma Pike premiered the first single from the album, ‘Back To Life’, on Double J Mornings today. If you missed it, you can hear it below:
The whole family gets in on the 11-track album, with Sharon Finn playing bass on a couple of tracks and Elroy Finn handling drumming duties on three quarters of the record. Joining them are close friend Connan Mockasin and new buddy (and bandmate) Mick Fleetwood, who adds his magic to three tracks.
The album’s release comes mere weeks before Neil Finn’s first shows as one of the newest members of soft rock juggernaut Fleetwood Mac. Add this to the orchestra Out Of Silence shows Neil Finn has just completed, and the duo shows from earlier this year, and 2018 has been one of the more sizable years in Finn’s career.
Lightsleeper is out on Friday 24 August. The tracklist is below:
1. Island of Peace
2. Meet Me In The Air
3. Where's My Room
4. Anger Plays A Part
6. Any Other Way
7. Back To Life
8. Hiding Place
10. We Know What It Means
11. Hold Her Close
