Nick Cave has just released a new… skateboard
It can be pretty awkward being middle-aged at the skatepark. Now you can embarrass yourself even further in the eyes of your adolescent young ones by rolling up on your very own Nick Cave skateboard.
Yes, that’s right. You can show your ultimate devotion to one of our country’s finest ever artists by grabbing one of these striking looking decks from Australian skate company Fast Times.
San Franciscan artist Chuck Sperry has designed this new board, which features the line ‘Hey Little Moo Moo, Light As a Rainbow’, from the Grinderman song ‘Heathen Child’.
Cave has made no comment about the skateboard, or the rationale behind lending his work to its creation. Though apparently he chose the lyric himself “to represent the Melbourne skate scene and Fast Times community.”
This is not the first time Cave has been involved in the skate business. Back in 2015, Fast Times and Chuck Sperry did their first Nick Cave board and it must have gone down pretty well because they’re doing it all again.
It’s definitely one of the stranger pieces of Nick Cave memorabilia for super-fans to lust over. The limited run of boards is on sale now.
Of course, you don’t have to actually ride the skateboard – we’re sure the deck would look just fine hanging up on your wall.
Here’s some footage of skaters Jimmy Roche and James Hall carving it up on their new Cave decks.
All we need now is a video of Cave himself riding the board.
There is nothing we will not do to get our hands on such footage.
