Paul Kelly to release new album Nature in October
It wasn’t all that long ago we were singing the praises of Life Is Fine, a record that showed Paul Kelly’s talents as a songwriter and performer were as good as ever.
But Kelly isn’t one to sit still for too long, today announcing a brand-new record – his 24th (!) - will be released in just a couple of months.
Today he has shared ‘With The One I Love’, the first single from the record, and it’s another pretty rollicking track that suggests he’s still very much in rock’n’roll mode. No complaints about that.
He’s also released a film clip for the song featuring cameos from Mojo Juju and Vika and Linda Bull.
Kelly has once again taken inspiration from his favourite writers for these new songs, with poems from the likes of Dylan Thomas, Walt Whitman, Sylvia Plath, Gerard Manley Hopkins and Phillip Larkin in there amongst his own words.
There’s a duet with Australian singer/actress Kate Miller-Heidke ‘Bound To Follow (Aisling Song)’ and finally a studio version of ‘Seagulls of Seattle’, which Kelly has been playing live for quite some time.
More exciting news: the CD version of Nature will come with a DVD of his unforgettable (some might say perfect) set at the Sydney Opera House Forecourt last year. A razor sharp snapshot of an unbelievable 27 song set that’ll bring back plenty of memories.
Here’s the track list:
- And Death Shall Have No Dominion
- With the One I Love
- A Bastard Like Me
- Little Wolf
- With Animals
- Bound To Follow (Aisling Song) Feat. Kate Miller-Heidke
- Seagulls of Seattle
- Morning Storm
- The River Song
- God's Grandeur
- The Trees
Nature will be out on Friday 12 October.
