The Gum Ball announces first acts for 2017
While you’re thinking about Christmas parties, Santa Claus, chestnuts roasting on an open fire and the legacy of Bing Crosby, the team at The Gum Ball have just one thing on their mind. Booking amazing bands for the 12th instalment of their beloved festival, which hits the Hunter Valley next April.
The first round of artists have been locked in and announced this afternoon, with plenty of beloved Aussie talent (and Double J favourites) ensuring the festival will sound great.
Brisbane noise anarchists Regurgitator return to the event in 2017, bringing the party like only they know how.
The always hilarious Tripod will undoubtedly bring some joy in their slot; it’s unknown if they’ll pull out any of the instant classics they put together in Double J’s Writer’s Room earlier this year, though.
A live Gareth Liddiard show is a unique experience; sometimes hilarious, sometimes harrowing, and always completely engrossing, while we know the literate, punishing post-punk of The Peep Tempel will go down a treat in a festival environment.
The full list of acts on this first announcement is as follows:
Regurgitator, Tripod, Boo Seeka, Gareth Liddiard, The Peep Tempel, Jack Carty, The Ocean Party, Liz Stringer, The Steele Syndicate, Mick Hart, Africa Entsha, Freya Josephine Hollick
Expecting the next announcement in late-January.
The event is one of those that we reckon you should definitely take your kids to, with a night time kids crèche, workshops, skating demos and more to keep them occupied if the music becomes too much.
The Gum Ball festival happens at Belford in the Hunter Valley from Friday 21 April to Sunday 23. Head to their website for further details.
