The Living End, Spiderbait, Something For Kate lead new Newcastle festival
Scene & Heard is a brand new festival that will take place for the very first time in November at Newcastle’s Wickham Park.
Because it’s so new, we don’t know a whole lot about what to expect from the event. But we’ve just seen the line up, so we can tell you one thing – its stages are going to be blasting nothing but incredible music and the crowd will probably turn up plenty of old faces you haven’t seen since you last went to the Big Day Out.
Headlining proceedings are the always masterful The Living End, who’ll again provide a masterclass in live rock’n’roll when they close out the night. They’re just the pointy end of a very strong bill from front to back, with the likes of Spiderbait, Something For Kate, Sneaky Sound System, Killing Heidi, Skunkhour, Dallas Crane and Front End Loader on the bill already.
One musical point of difference that we haven’t seen from other events similar to this is the inclusion of a dance stage. The Don’t Come Monday stage will feature performances from 90s/2000s dance music favourites Groove Terminator, Kid Kenobi and Goodwill, so you’d better make sure you bring some comfortable shoes.
It’s a small festival – there are just 7,000 tickets available – so we’re hoping the vibes will be sufficiently relaxed. Plus, Lindsay ‘The Doctor’ McDougall will be hosting the whole affair, and we all know what a charmer that fella is.
Scene & Heard happens at Wickham Park, Newcastle on Sunday 4 November. Tickets are on sale from Thursday 19 July.
