The National announce Australian shows for 2018

Primary tabs

The National perform massive outdoor shows when returning to Australia next year.

The National are one of the many acts making their return to active duty in 2017 after a fairly lengthy gap between records.

Sleep Well Beast, the band's seventh album, will be their first in over four years and is released on Friday 8 September.

Thankfully, the band aren't making Australian fans, of which there are many, wait too long to hear the new songs live.

The National have announced three shows along the Australian east coast in support of the record, which sees them performing in large outdoor venues that will no doubt provide a special atmosphere to hear their stunning work, both new and old.

The band made a very quick dash to Australia back in 2016 to play Bluesfest, but this is the first larger scale tour the band have done in a little while. Their live show is a meticulous reconstruction of the moody indie rock they specialise in, with the songs gaining a new power when experienced live. Put simply, a show from The National is a special experience.

The National perform the following dates. Tickets are available from Friday 1 September.

Wednesday 21 February - Sydney Opera House Forecourt
Tuesday 27 February - Brisbane Riverstage
Thursday 1 March - Sidney Myer Music Bowl, Melbourne
