The original line up of The Vines reform for shows with Jet
As if Jet getting back together to perform shows for the 15th anniversary of their enormous record Get Born wasn’t exciting enough, a couple of these shows just got a whole lot more interesting.
The Vines, another Aussie band who damn near conquered the rock’n’roll world in the early 2000s, are getting the original line up of the group back together to play support at the band’s two Sydney shows.
This is a huge deal. This line up of the group hasn’t reconvened for 14 years and, honestly, we’re not sure whether or not they will do so again. Things got a little turbulent there, but they made some incredible music together, so it will be exciting to see if that spark remains.
Just so we’re clear, The Vines line up for these shows will feature frontman and guitarist Craig Nichols, bassist Patrick Matthews, guitarist Ryan Griffiths and drummer Hamish Rosser. At these two shows, the band will pull out a stack of gems from their killer records Highly Evolved and Winning Days. Rock songs so damn catchy and frenetic and full of life that they sound as good today as ever.
The Vines join Jet for two shows in Sydney this month. Dates are as follows:
Wednesday May 30 – Metro Theatre, Sydney
Thursday May 31 – Enmore Theatre, Sydney (sold out)
