The Superjesus announce reissue and tour to celebrate 20 years of Sumo
In 1998, Adelaide rockers The Superjesus followed up on the promise they’d shown on there debut EP Eight Step Rail and the unbelievably good singles - ‘Down Again’ and ‘Saturation’ - that had preceded it.
The album was Sumo, and it very quickly showed that the band were a force to be reckoned with in the booming Australian alternative rock scene of the time. It won them ARIAs, took them to number two on the charts and made them a favourite on festival bills around the country.
Twenty years on, the band are revisiting that record, with a new reissue of the album and a massive national tour that will see the band dig back into the album and bring back plenty of memories for all of us.
The reissue of Sumo will feature a handful of tracks recorded for triple j’s Live at the Wireless back in 1997, as well a cover of Kylie Minogue’s ‘Confide In Me’ (!!). It will be out on Friday 17 August.
