Kasey Chambers has raided her teenage record collection for her second show as Artist in Residence. We'll hear the artists and songs that take her back to a formative decade from 1986 to 1996, just before her solo career kicked off and as she was touring Australia and the world in her family band.
So, how would Kasey describe herself during this period? “The word that comes to mind when I think of my teen years is confusion. But I think a lot of teenagers feel like that”. And like a lot of teenagers her music taste was expanding, and sometimes full of contradictions. She started to be informed by influences outside what her parents or family were listening to. With acts like Michelle Shocked, Iris Dement, The Black Crowes, Radiohead, Cold Chisel, Cyndi Lauper and Steve Earle starting to work their way into her life.
