Tim Shiel is on a pagan pilgrimage this week, trekking to our southern most capital for the annual winter solstice celebration – Dark Mofo.
In the first of two shows from Hobart we catch up with Angie Hart and explore the power of poetry in music, via a new compilation launching at Dark Mofo. We’ll dig deep into the heavy and possibly satanic sounds of the festival with triple j’s riff-lord Lochlan Watt. A couple of locals – indie duo The Native Cats – tell us about the role community plays in Hobart’s small but thriving music scene. And we’ll find out why one artist is being buried beneath a busy street so cars can drive over him.
Tim also meets nocturnal chanteuse and David Lynch collaborator Rebecca Del Rio, and we find out what brought Australian vocal trio Tiddas back out of retirement and onto the stage at Dark Mofo.
