On this week’s Fat Planet, we catch up with Jim White from visionary duo Xylouris White.
Alongside Cretan laouto player George Xylouris, the duo have forged a formidable reputation for their exciting recordings and mesmerising live shows. Ahead of their Vivid Live performance and a handful of other shows, Jim chats about their huge year and most recent album Mother.
We also hear more from the new album by Bombino, which finds the Tuareg guitarist and songwriter returning to Africa to record his first album there in nearly a decade. Recorded in Casablanca, Bombino gathers together some of his closest friends to deliver an authentic and honest meditation on his culture and homeland.
We also check in with Sante Les Amis from Montevideo, Uruguay, who have just dropped their second album Como Animales, and we listen to a collaboration between Swedish artist Nina Kinert and Samuel T. Herring of Future Islands.
