The Saints and Radio Birdman led the charge worldwide, while back home there were hundreds of underground bands making noise and causing mayhem at shows around the country.
Isolated, conservative areas like Perth and Brisbane birthed bands like The Victims and Razar, while the fertile Sydney and Melbourne scene had a bevy of incredible bands, from the Young Charlatans to the Lime Spiders.
Punk never let up in Australia. Bands like Hard-Ons and Massappeal took it through the '80s. The pop punk boom in the '90s saw bands like Frenzal Rhomb and Bodyjar teeter on hitting the mainstream. And today, there are still hundreds of punk bands ready to make a hell of a noise in pubs around the country every weekend.
